The proposed contract for Tallahassee City Manager finalist Karen Jumonville has been released.
One contract detail raises how many commissioners would be needed to fire the new city manager.
The proposed contract includes a clause saying the manager could only be removed with a 2/3rds vote of the commission. That means four of the city’s five commission members would need to vote to fire her.
It’s consequential because the current two commissioner minority faction consisting of Jack Porter and Jeremy Matlow, voted against moving forward with this current finalist, and two candidates aligned with them are running for two other seats. If the contract goes through, both those candidates would have to win, plus Matlow would have to win his bid for Tallahassee Mayor, to be able to terminate Jumonville.
The contract would last five years and pay Jumonville $317,000 annually to start. She will also receive a $1,000 monthly stipend for vehicle use.
The contract will be discussed and potentially approved at today’s city commission meeting starting at 3 p.m.
